Full Sail Hosts Orlando City & Orlando Pride Media Day
The city’s beloved professional soccer clubs produced marketing content for their 2026 season with the help of Full Sail students.
One thing Full Sail University takes seriously is providing opportunities for students to translate their knowledge into hands-on experience. Enter Central Florida’s own professional soccer teams – Orlando City Soccer Club (MLS) and Orlando Pride (NWSL) – who recently visited Full Sail’s campus for the fourth year to produce marketing content, including the kit reveal for the 2026 season’s away games, with the help of students.
On the clubs’ media day, Orlando City players moved through various stations set up across the Full Sail University Orlando Health Fortress, Soundstage 1A, and the Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting Soundstage to capture content. They posed for headshots on a shipwreck-themed set wearing the new Sunken Treasure Kit, featuring a striking gold jersey with purple accents. The club’s mascot, Kingston, even made an appearance in the bold new kit.
The players of Orlando Pride had a different vibe going with the new Unity Kit, featuring vibrant pastel colors and a purple “Unity” patch on the hip. The Studio V1 set complemented the jerseys with a colorful, abstract background displayed on the LED screen and soft, pastel fabrics draped around the set. Players from both clubs modeled for videos to be used on the stadium's big screen during matches and captured fun content for the clubs’ socials.
Students in the Sportscasting and Sports Marketing & Media degree programs got to assist the soccer clubs’ production crew and gain valuable, real-world experience in the process.
“We had 16 students working the event, and they each found value in seeing all of the logistics, production, equipment, sets, people, and more needed to capture the teams’ content needs for the season,” shared RaeLynn McAfee, Program Director for the Sports Marketing & Media degree program. “Students’ roles and responsibilities ranged. Most were player escorts guiding them through the stations, keeping them on time and in the correct uniforms needed and two were production assistants for the digital content teams. Each student made some great industry connections and walked away with a behind-the-scenes view of a professional team’s media day.”
The Director of Broadcast & Content Production for Orlando City, Deion McCarter, is also a Full Sail Film grad and appreciated the opportunity to collaborate.
“On a personal level, this event held special meaning for me as a Full Sail alumnus,” said Deion. “I credit the staff and faculty at Full Sail with many of the opportunities and professional growth I’ve experienced in the film and television industry, so returning to campus in my role with Orlando City was incredibly rewarding.
“This event also reflects a broader collaboration with the Full Sail community…. Both personally and as a club, we’re excited to have created opportunities for current students to observe, shadow, and learn by being present in these environments – to see firsthand how a professional sports organization approaches large-scale content production," Deion continued. "It’s especially meaningful for me to help provide those opportunities on the same campus where my own career began.”
