From July 18-20, more than 250 players from across North America competed in the largest youth esports league in the country.

The energy was electric as, for the fourth year in a row, Full Sail University hosted the XP League North American Finals at the Full Sail Orlando Health Fortress and Live venue.
From July 18-20, more than 250 players from across North America went head-to-head in the largest youth esports league in the country, competing in five popular games: Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch, Rocket League, and Valorant.
Audience members watched the thrilling matches in suspense over the course of the weekend and cheered for their favorites, while Full Sail students and grads, like ReZee and PB_n_John, provided commentary throughout the competitions. Other grads who returned for the event included Daniel "Takasu" Hernandez, who was coaching his Fortnite team, and 2022 grad Jesse "Jest0pher" Flanary, who received Valorant Coach of the Year. The weekend of games was also livestreamed on Full Sail’s Twitch.

In the grand finals, Acworth Ghost and North OC Kraken fought for the win in Fortnite, Franklin EXO and Cabarrus Cougars competed in Apex Legends, Acworth Ghost and Franklin EXO played against each other in Overwatch, and Hanover Horde and Franklin EXO competed in Rocket League. Acworth Ghost took the win in the exciting Fortnite match, while Franklin EXO conquered in the remaining three competitions.
Fan-favorite player Chubb of Franklin EXO did not disappoint in the Overwatch grand finals, leading his team to victory against Acworth Ghost. Franklin EXO team members shared embraces following their thrilling win and offered fist bumps to their competitors in the spirt of sportsmanship.
Partway through the weekend, Full Sail’s Director of Esports Sari Kitelyn awarded two students working on production throughout the weekend with scholarships to use toward their educational goals. James Korba, Film student and photographer, and Devin Henry, stage manager and Game Art student, were recognized for their outstanding work and were awarded $10,000 each in scholarship funds.

“Students got an amazing experience producing the largest youth esports tournament in history, and the participants got a professional level grand finals experience to cap off their hard work all year,” said Sari.

In the exciting climax of the weekend, Acworth Ghost and Franklin EXO battled it out in the last game, Valorant, keeping the audience in suspense until the very end when Franklin EXO caught the win. Everyone cheered as both teams crossed the stage to accept their trophies and the glory that comes with being some of the country’s best youth esports players.
