On September 26-27, Full Sail University hosted the annual BSides Orlando Cybersecurity Conference. The two-day conference featured educational activities, sessions led by field experts, networking opportunities, and more.

Throughout the conference weekend, attendees enjoyed an array of activities including honing their skills at the Soldering Village, delving into the human side of cybersecurity at the Social Engineering Adventure Village, and putting their skills to the test at the Lock Picking Village. Industry experts led workshops on topics from scam prevention strategies and the impacts of cyber harassment to financial crime detection and the evolution of phishing. For job search support, attendees could check out the Career Village and get help with their resume, practice mock interviews, and network with other professionals.

To recognize two outstanding Full Sail Cybersecurity bachelor’s students nearing graduation, conference leaders awarded $5,000 scholarships to Jonathan Diaz and Jeremy Shearn to use toward their educational goals.

“Full Sail University is proud to support BSides Orlando, a conference that reflects the collaborative spirit of the cybersecurity community,” said Sean Phalen, Program Director of Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Web Development here at Full Sail. “Events like this connect our students with industry leaders and real-world challenges, helping prepare them for the future of the field.”

“Cybersecurity is not just about defending systems; it’s about building resilient communities,” he continued. “We’re excited to be part of an event that fosters innovation, talent, and resilience in cybersecurity.”
