About This Program

Degree Overview

Developed in collaboration with sportscasting veteran Dan Patrick, the goal of the Sportscasting bachelor's degree is to provide students with constant real-world experience both on camera and behind the scenes. You'll build a foundation in interviewing, voice work, writing, and storytelling, and then move on to advanced concepts in news-gathering, reporting, and multimedia communication. You'll also develop presenting skills for current and emerging technologies – from broadcast, to gaming, to virtual and augmented reality - as you learn from faculty members who are active in the world of sportscasting, with more than 60 EMMY-winning credits in their careers.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Sports Digital Production - This course introduces students to the foundational elements of still photography and video production for the purpose of content creation. Students will learn the skills required of professional photographers and picture editors in creating photographic and multimedia packages.

Vocal Training for Sportscasting - Students will explore the philosophy of communicating with audiences and study the pillars of vocal communication. Students will also perform basic vocal exercises and drills to start developing their vocal instrument.

Broadcast for Advanced Technology - Students will learn how to create, produce, and present content on digital and streaming platforms using various apps and functions of their phones and computers.
